We are recruiting for a role which will involve working closely with our Housing Service and other local agencies to assess housing options for people who are currently or at risk of sleeping rough.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Council’s homelessness team to assess housing needs on a case-by-case basis through to helping people move on towards independent living.

This is a great opportunity to work closely with people and other agencies who provide housing and support, including local charities, health and social care and the criminal justice system.

Applicants should have experience of working with vulnerable people, other agencies and knowledge and understanding of housing and especially the legislation and statutory duties for local housing authorities working with homelessness.

The successful candidate will be based mainly at the Civic Centre in Chelmsford working 37 hours per week but will be required to work away from the office for some of the time, including regular engagement with clients on the street. The post provides an opportunity to develop existing knowledge and skills, whilst gaining experience of both operational and strategic housing issues in the mid Essex area.

Interviews are currently scheduled for 8th June

As part of our accreditation with Essex Family Friendly Employers Charter, this full-time role can be offered on a job share or part-time basis, providing we are able to recruit to the remaining hours.
