An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Homeless & Housing Advice services. This is a new and diverse role with responsibility to embed a new structure that will take a systemic, holistic approach to the prevention and relief of homelessness.
We are looking for a skilled people manager who can support and coach a dedicated team to provide a robust, effective, efficient, and high-quality service to prevent and relieve homelessness in Warrington.
Whilst managing your own workload you will advise, develop, and nurture the team to continually strive for excellence of service, while you also drive service improvements and innovation. You will have a continued focus on ensuring the service is fit for purpose to deliver for some of the most vulnerable people in our community as well as enabling the Council to meet its statutory responsibilities.
About this role:We are committed to providing excellent homeless and housing advice services. As a result of a recent service redesign the role will focus and have responsibility for the operational management of the team providing all core homelessness functions under Part VII 1996 housing Act as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
It is a time of major challenge from the cost-of-living crisis, rising homelessness and government initiatives and you will be required to support the service manager on policy development, exploring new opportunities to alleviate the demands on the service and effective delivery of statutory responsibilities. This includes managing the allocation of emergency accommodation and temporary housing stock.
You will work closely alongside the Services Manager to deliver innovation in providing early intervention and prevention of homelessness. You will be accustomed to managing through change and will have experience delivering services to people who have multiple and complex needs.
It is important that you are an experienced leader with a proven track record of nurturing and developing staff, preferably in a housing or homelessness setting, in order to manage and inspire the team through a period of change.
You should have a commitment to partnership working, be experienced in establishing pathways within multi-agency partnerships to ensure that clients receive the best service.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
