Job description

Labour 247 is an employment business acting on the behalf of a client who looking to recruit a Home Delivery Technician Van driver.

  • To participate in the delivery, installation and engineer of large domestic appliances (i.e. washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, refrigeration etc.) as part of a one- or two-man team

. To comply with all legal regulations and safe practices with regards to vehicles and driving.

  • To practice the highest level of Health and Safety in the workplace and in the field in order to protect oneself, colleagues and members of the public. To undertake various projects/tasks as directed by Driver Manager. To undertake miscellaneous tasks as required supporting the effective running of the business.

  • White goods delivery experience is desirable (although appliance training will be provided. Education and/or qualifications GCSE’s – 5 (English and Maths included)

Vehicle responsibilities To comply with all procedures and guidance in relation to the use of vehicle camera systems or telematics, reporting issues immediately. To take responsibility for any fuel cards and prepaid tags, using appropriately and protecting pin when in use. Returning vehicle with a full tank of fuel at end of each shift. Take responsibility for allocated vehicle, PDA, all tools and equipment. At the beginning and end of a shift, fully inspect and check the vehicle documenting all defects and in the case of defects, getting authorisation from the supervisor that the vehicle is roadworthy to go out.

Delivery, installation and collection of appliances Provide high level customer service at all times. Give all customers a pre-call in agreed timeframes with an expected time of arrival. Ensure load is secure at all times, both inbound and outbound and ensure correct documentation is filled out and item is secure and well protected and packed for transit. Complete the loading and/or unloading of appliances by hand or with the use of a hand truck. To complete full risk assessment of customer’s property and surrounding area to ensure delivery is safe to complete. Following procedure as required if the delivery is unable to be completed. To position the product in the customers room of choice. To offer unpacking and removal of waste packaging to customer. Ensure item is removed and reloaded on to the van in line with recycling procedure. Complete the removal of existing appliances, installation, testing of appliance and/or adjusting of appliance in customers home. Where appropriate offer compensation on damaged appliances to customers in line with damage matrix and procedure. Complete reports and document any electrical hazards identified when installing appliances in accordance with procedure, including failing an installation if deemed too dangerous to proceed

Shift pattern 4 days rota system, over 6 days per week

Working day starts at 5:45am and can last up to 12 hours.

  • Wigan, WN2: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Delivery driver experience: 1 year (required)
  • Driving: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (required)
