We are recruiting three Home Care Support Workers to work at Beach House in Hove. Two permanent contracts and one fixed term to cover Maternity Leave. The fixed term contract is also open to internal candidates as a secondment opportunity as per secondment policy.

About the role
About us
The Beach House is a service which provides respite and short breaks for adults who have learning disabilities. We are expanding the staff team and looking to recruit two 37 hours Home Care Support Workers. Our most recent CQC inspection rated the service as “good” and the inspectors highlighted the fact that People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.’
We support residents with Learning Disabilities to live independently and our Home Care Support Workers help residents with personal care, day to day tasks and support accessing leisure activities, banking, shopping and health appointments etc.
We make every effort to provide as homely an environment as possible and our dedicated team of staff work hard to ensure that our residents’ individual needs are met in a caring and sensitive manner and skills are developed in a way that promotes their independence.
We provide 24-hour 7 day a week care and support.
You will join a large team of committed staff in providing high level support to those receiving a service at The Beach House. The help you provide will be tailored to each individual’s needs and is designed to help them to maintain as much independence as possible. You will also be required to work closely with the service users family/carers and the Specialist Community Disability Service.
The support you provide to the residents will involve:
- supporting with intimate personal care where required
- enabling individuals to participate in a range of activities within the wider community such as swimming, trampolining, eating out, bowling, shopping etc.
- help with cooking meals
- assisting with the administration of medication
- completing care records
- using various communication tools to help residents express themselves
- maintaining relationships with family members, carers and friends
About you:
- Previous experience of care work and supporting people with learning disabilities is desirable but not essential as you will receive full training once you start in the role. You will need and an in-depth induction programme, where you will be well supported by your managers and colleagues. However, you will need to:
- have a caring and flexible approach to your work
- have good written and number skills
- have basic ICT skills
- be able to work well as part of a team
- be able to work on your own initiative and think quickly in a difficult situation.
These roles are for 37 hours per week and you will be required to work a rota pattern that includes some weekends, early, late, sleep in duties and Bank Holidays (including Christmas and New Year on a rota basis. Enhancements are paid for these unsocial hours).

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
