The Wellcome - MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Histology Technician to join our Scientific Facilities team. You will be responsible for preparing and processing samples for microscopic examination, providing a core service to support innovative research projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in histology and an efficient, professional, and friendly approach.
You should be comfortable working independently or as part of a team and be able to prioritise and manage your time effectively. You will be familiar with a range of histological preparation techniques, with extensive experience in preparing and handling paraffin and cryopreserved specimens, cutting sections, staining, and mounting sections both by hand and using automated equipment.
You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build good working relationships with others in a diverse and collaborative environment. An A level/NVQ3 educational level, or equivalent, is also required, along with knowledge of mouse and human anatomy
This is a part-time role for 0.5 FTE (18.25 hours per week).
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
