About the opportunity
Jacobs has an enviable reputation in the UK Transportation consultancy sector due to our market leading portfolio of high profile major projects with international, national and local clients that include: National Highways, Transport Scotland, Network Rail, the Welsh Government and National Contractors. We work for many of the councils and transport authorities running the UK’s largest cities including London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Dublin, Leeds, Manchester and have long standing client relationships and ambitious growth plans.
As we prepare for a more automated, digital and decarbonised future, we will provide the training and transferable skills to take your knowledge to different markets. As an experienced highways design and project lead you will support the continued growth of our talent and capability and the delivery leadership of our long term pipeline of infrastructure design work.
As a Highways Engineer you will be responsible for project delivery, specific responsibilities will include:
- Reporting to the project lead,you will support technical design delivery on a variety of projects.
- Assist with the technical development of more junior staff.
- Contribute to the preparation of feasibility studies, technical reports, detailed designs and production of contract documents across a variety of projects.
- Work with the highways team and other disciplines in providing an integrated service to clients.
- Help seek innovative solutions in achieving best value in delivering our services.

Here’s What You’ll Need:- A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Technical experience of some aspects of major highway schemes.
- Working knowledge of DMRB, other standards related to area of expertise.
- Working knowledge of H&S legislation.
- Ability to work within a global multi-disciplinary team.
