Fantastic Opportunities to join FM Conway as a Highways Maintenance Apprentice!
FM Conway are currently searching for Highways Maintenance Apprentices to join our leading Term Maintenance division working on our contracts in Croydon, Merton and Sutton. The Term Maintenance division is a staple of the UK’s road network, providing London with a high quality service to ensure our roads and pavements run smoothly and safely. The positions available are full time and permanent, they offer full training and a clear career pathway.
To be considered for this role you must be available to attend an assessment centre, dates are TBC but this will likely be held in early July. If this format does not suit you, please provide details of any reasonable adjustments that you require on your application form. The successful applicants will commence work in September 2023.

The Highways Maintenance Apprentice Role
You will work in a supported learning environment to develop all the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to become a successful Highways Maintenance Apprentice and complete a Level 2 Apprenticeship. You will learn about the maintenance and repair of highways, roads, pavements and street furniture as well as learning about the associated traffic management.
Other responsibilities include:
- Undertaking planned works and scheme works as part of a gang carrying out operations such as paving and kerb laying
- Undertaking formal training in order to be confident carrying out tasks such as kerb laying, paving, sett laying and duct laying
- Working as instructed by the mason on site to complete daily/weekly targets
- Assisting in the collection when requested of materials required for works
- Carrying out all works with care and with attention to health and safety, using the appropriate tools and safeguards
- Learning to undertake any necessary pedestrian management as instructed
What we’re looking for in our Highways Maintenance Apprentice
To be considered for this role you must have GCSE’s or equivalent in Maths and English. You will be reliable, hardworking with an interest in the construction industry. You will have strong communication skills and the enthusiasm to learn and develop.
