We have exciting opportunities for a Band 7 Highly Specialist Orthotist with a positive outlook, to join a well-developed large clinical team
This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of an established In-house NHS service within Greater Manchester consisting of 10 qualified staff.
The position will give the post holder extensive exposure to all areas within Orthotics including Major Trauma, spinal, neuromuscular, musculoskeletal and paediatrics, as well as mentorship and the peer support network you would expect being part of a larger clinical team, where you will be encouraged to develop your existing leadership skills, participate in research initiatives, and continually improve the service
We will welcome applicants with an extensive background in Orthotics as well as additional highly specialist in-depth experience in all areas of clinical orthotics such as spinal, neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and paediatric presentations.
Main duties of the job
You will work as part of a team delivering and providing the Orthotic service across the NCA. This includes inpatient and outpatient services across 4 sites, as well as some community clinics.
As a Highly Specialist Orthotist you will provide clinical leadership to the team as well an undertake your own clinical caseload providing clinical examination and assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients. You will be expected to do this within an appropriate timeframe and with suitably sourced orthoses for prescription, quality, and cost. You will work within BAPOs best practice guidelines and ensure the planned outcome measures for patients’ Orthotic management are met.

Person specification
Registration / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc Honours Degree Prosthetics/Orthotics or recognised equivalent
- State (HPC) Registration
- Current full car driving licence and access to vehicle
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- 5 Years post qualification clinical practice, including working within Major Trauma , Spinal , Neuro, MSK and Paediatrics
Desirable criteria
- Able to demonstrate innovation and effective use of resources
- Experience of Digital patient systems
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to actively research for the potential to improve quality and customer care, seeking new ideas and methods to improve health care
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and experience of Digital scanning Technologies
- Experience of cost effective prescriptions for stock & custom orthotic supply.
Experience

- Evidence of proactive involvement in the supervision and development of the team
- Evidence of delivering education and training in practice

- Able to act as a clinical supervisor and / or facilitate peer groups
- Evidence of involvement in developing of programmers of care, protocols and audit
