The company seeks to employ an HGV Driver (Class 1 C & E) to facilitate efficient transport of goods, unrivalled customer service and an exceptional commitment to teamwork. The role involves Monday – Friday pick-up/transfer of trailers from ports serving Northern Ireland to locations between Stoke-on-Trent / Coventry. No weekend work required.

Job Description

  • Responsible and accountable for delivery of our products to customers.
  • Deal with all customers in a courteous and professional manner – face to face or by telephone.
  • Comply with the systematic distribution and receipt of all deliveries.
  • Comply with customer guidelines with loading and unloading of company products at their premises.
  • Will be required to work in the warehouse preparing their own load, wrap pallets etc...
  • Ensure that any equipment on the vehicle is secured and protected where necessary.
  • Liaise with the Transport Manager regarding logistics and ensuring customer first approach is taken at all times.
  • Maintain and verify accurate daily manual and computerised records (if applicable) of all delivery dockets and ensure all discrepancies are reported to your line manager.
  • Maintain manual checks of the company vehicles to ensure safe and legal operation, with any defects or damage being reported immediately.
  • Carry out all driving duties in accordance with the Vehicle Drivers Rules as detailed in the Employee Handbook.

Essential Criteria

  • Permanent HGV Class 1 licence and a valid CPC qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years HGV Class 1 driving experience (44T).
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Previous experience of multi-drop deliveries.
  • Sound geographical knowledge of Great Britain.
  • Experience of Digital Tacho Card.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as a ‘can-do’ problem-solving attitude.
  • Attention to detail, ability to maintain legible, accurate and up-to-date records
  • Good numeracy / literacy skills
  • Any other duties.
  • References are essential.

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrable experience of managing own travel
  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift license

This role enables us to provide the successful driver with ongoing work for 39 core hours per week, though they may be required to work extra hours depending on business needs. Overtime may be required on occasions and the rate of pay will be negotiable depending on the suitable candidate.

Candidates who do not meet the criteria will not be considered.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience, immediate starts are available.
