The Opportunity:
We are looking for a proactive Helpdesk-Desktop Support Co-op, who enjoys the challenges of handling User and IT Administrative Support. You’ll also have the opportunity to build & expand your skills in networking/database/infrastructure management; learning from senior members on the team. Being busy, interacting with people, solving technical challenges, interested in continuous learning, and having a keen desire to “fix things” best describes you in your element.
We look for pragmatic solutions for our continuously growing user community. These roles will focus on handling ongoing user support and working on key IT projects to keep our IT services and infrastructure robust, secure, and current. Together as a team, we take on these multifaceted challenges – everyday there’s something new.
Key Responsibilities:
Working collaboratively with our internal teams and customers, you will handle user support and IT administration issues on your own, and with others on the IT team.
- User Support (helpdesk functions) – this is quite varied and will include a variety of challenges as people run into problems that they need help with – both hardware and software. Supporting laptops, desktops, servers, and mobile devices – from initial setup to refurbishing to recycling. This will include Microsoft Windows 7 and 10, Windows Server 20xx, MacOS, Ubuntu, Debian, iOS. Staff are remotely supported beyond the Vancouver location and time-zones.
- IT Administration Support – provisioning of laptops and workstations, software tools, accounts, and licenses, and on-boarding new staff. Account creation and management in Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 201x, Network Management tools, provisioning management, security and backup agents. Event and issue monitoring, management and response. Documenting support procedures and knowledge.
- IT Projects – Collaborating with the team on continuous infrastructure evolution. Selection, upgrades and integration – including, phone systems, networking, meeting room systems, security, and cloud integration products

- Excellent interpersonal skills including: teamwork, respect, courtesy, and discretion.
- BCIT or working towards a similar diploma (BCIT Business Information Technology Management or Applied Computer Information Systems)
