Job description
The Township of Adjala-Tosorontio is located north of the GTA, at the southwest border of Simcoe County with a population of 11,000 residents and offers rural living with proximity to urban amenities.
Reporting to Supervisor of Operations and Maintenance, the Equipment Operator will be responsible for the operation of Municipal Public Works equipment and machinery used for winter and summer maintenance and construction of Municipal roadways, facilities, and parks which includes but is not limited to a snow plow, dump truck, tandem axle trucks, backhoe, excavator, grader, and performing any other labour function involved in the maintenance and operation of the department.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 2 years experience in operation of a standard transmission snow plow required, preferred within a municipal setting
· General knowledge of road maintenance and construction methods
· Provide satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Valid Class “D” drivers licence with airbrake “Z” endorsement with clean abstract required
· On-call response time within 30 minutes to Township’s Public Works yard located in Loretto is required
· Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime as needed
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Manual labour with use of, but not limited to, shovels, rakes, chainsaw, weed trimmer, etc
· Trained in Book 7 and knowledge of Minimum Maintenance Standards an asset
· Ability to operate motor grader, backhoe, excavator an asset
· Able to perform heavy lifting, work outdoors in inclement weather, and in a construction environment
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment
Selected applicants must demonstrate ability to operate snow plow with copies of applicable credentials (ie licences, certificates) provided during interview process
Permanent, Full-time position, Monday – Friday
7am – 3:30pm in summer and 3:30pm – 12am during winter operations
