Healthwatch in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay (HWDPT) is run in partnership by three local organisations - Colebrook South West, Healthwatch Torbay & Engaging Communities South West and Citizens Advice Devon.
Healthwatch is an independent consumer champion for patients, carers, families, and everyone who uses health and social care services.
A key role of a Local Healthwatch organisation is to continue to develop and deliver local Healthwatch services, ensuring the patient voice is represented at all levels.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Healthwatch Plymouth as our Engagement Officer, ensuring that the voices of local people are used to influence the design, development, improvement and delivery of local health and social care services across wider Devon, with a focus on Torbay.
The post holder will be employed by Colebrook South West, to work within the Healthwatch Devon, Plymouth and Torbay project.
The role will be a mixture of working from home or office-based at Jan Cutting Healthy Living Centre, Scott Business Park. It will also include travel across the wider Devon area.
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months at 30 hours per week.
- To provide Engagement support for Healthwatch Plymouth (HWP) and work as part of a team including the HWP lead to undertake engagement and feedback, listen and capture people’s views and experiences using different engagements methods.
- Ensure that all activities engage a wide range of people and communities (including those who are seldom heard or marginalised and other stake holders) in Plymouth.
- Work with HWP Lead to prepare and produce surveys to collect appropriate, feedback and data for the community in Plymouth to improve health and social care services.
- Assist with analysis and identify what information is required for any reports relevant to Plymouth.
- Help ensure the views of local people are consider by health and social care decision makers in Plymouth.
- Maintain database of key contacts for HWP.
- Recruit and develop the Healthwatch Assists network in Plymouth and that they are actively engaged with HWP work plan.
- Work closely to recruit, train and support volunteers to deliver HWP work plan.
- Support the HWP Steering group of Lay representatives.
- Organise meetings, including booking venues, preparing agenda’s, printing and photocopying documents, taking minutes as required, distribution of papers before and after meetings (NB some meetings may be online).
- Represent HWP at local meetings/forum/networking events.
- Help ensure HWP is accessible, inclusive, responsive, and delivered meeting the requirements of the Equality Act
- Whilst this role is mainly focussed on Plymouth, you may be part of a wider team delivering engagement across the wider Devon area.
- Carry out any other task that is in scope of the post to ensure the effect delivery of the service.
