Job description
As a healthcare scientist within the WGS team you will oversee the daily running of the service. This will include liaising with Genomic associates, Clinical Geneticists, and pathway coordinators to ensure all eligible patients have access to the programme, ensuring efficient processing of samples in the laboratory and following up on queries, requesting additional samples or dealing with missing paperwork.In addition, you will undertake the analysis of WGS data for solid and haematological cancer cases and drafting of reports. An understanding of and experience in variant classification for somatic and/or germline findings according to published guidelines is expected, however, training will be provided. The role requires good communication and organisation skills to engage with scientific and clinical colleagues from the GLH hubs as well as the partner laboratories and referring hospitals to support a pan-GLH service.For this role you may, for example, have a keen interest in one particular cancer type with experience of analysing genomic data for clinical management or trials/research or you may have been involved in the 100K project and would like to utilise your experience to continue to support the NHS Genomic Medicine Service or you may already be working in a diagnostic setting:
