The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday 08.45-17.00 and potentially shift work and weekends in the future.

There are 2 positions available, 1 full time and the other for 22.5hrs. (Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

The successful candidate will join a friendly team of Biomedical Scientists and support staff and would be responsible for the day to day processing of patient samples: blood, urine, faeces, CSF and other body fluids in specialist and routine laboratory sections in Biochemistry using a range of scientific measurements and technical procedures. The department has a number of highly specialised areas including the Scottish Trace Element and Micronutrient Diagnostic and Research Laboratory (STEMDRL) as well as a large routine biochemistry laboratory.

You will be educated to a minimum of SVQ level 3/HNC and committed to working towards an HND in Biomedical Science or in possession of biological science HND or equivalent qualification. Excellent communication skills are essential as well as the ability to work as part of a team, using your own initiative when working alone, basic computing skills and commitment to meet the NHS Scotland Healthcare support worker induction standards and code of practice.
Knowledge and experience of Biochemistry laboratory work is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

These are for two posts, one 1.0WTE and one 0.6WTE with working hours 08:45hrs to 17:00hrs.
