Band 2 Healthcare Assistant - Day Surgery Unit (West Berkshire Community Hospital, Thatcham, Nr Newbury)
**There will be an opportunity to progress to Band 3**
PLEASE NOTE: This post is based at West Berkshire Community Hospital (WBCH), Benham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG18 3AS.
The Day Surgery Unit is looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team. We need a keen and interested person to work with us within the theatre and endoscopy environment.
No experience is necessary and training will be offered in all areas.
As part of the induction process, all new Healthcare Assistants will be supported to complete the nationally recognised Care Certificate (attached document refers) developed by Health Education England, Skills for Health and Skills for Care (2015).
This fantastic opportunity will allow you to gain formal recognition for the skills and knowledge you develop within the first 12 weeks of employment within the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The position of the Healthcare Assistant is to ensure that service user’s needs are met and to assist the team in maintaining high standards of care delivery.
You should have a desire to provide compassionate support and care, and have good communication skills, a flexible approach and enthusiasm to work within the team.
Previous experience is desirable but not essential as successful applicants will receive a comprehensive induction on commencing the post.

The post holder will provide high quality fundamental care to patients under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Practitioner in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.
Acting always in the patient’s best interests.
Protecting and maintaining the patient’s privacy and dignity at all times.
Providing individualised care for a diverse group of patients respecting personal beliefs and preferences.
Alert the Registered Practitioner and/or Ward/ Department Manager to any change or concern relating to the welfare of the patient in a timely manner.
