Job Title: Healthcare Assistant
Department: Inpatients Surgical Ward
Salary: £27,846 – £29,796 per annum
Hours of work: 37.5 per week (Internal Rotation to include Long Days & Long Nights)
Contract Type: Permanent
An exciting opportunity is available for a HCA, to join our well-established team at the prestigious King Edward VII Hospital, working with the vision of delivering excellence in care.
We are a 56-bedded acute hospital specialising in Colorectal, Urology, Orthopaedics, Men’s Health and Women’s Health which is provided by a friendly, professional and supportive team who are focused on being a centre of excellence for a wide variety of surgical procedures and treatments. You will be part of a team that cares for a wide range of surgical patients.
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team working on our acute surgical wards. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide high-quality patient care and support
Responsibilities:
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration rate
- Help patients with mobility and transferring, including the use of wheelchairs and beds
- Maintain patient hygiene and cleanliness
- Record patient information, such as food and fluid intake, and output
- Assist with patient observation and monitoring for any changes in their condition
- Respond to patient calls and provide emotional support to patients and their families
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of patient rooms
- Assist with the administration of medications and treatments under the direction of a registered nurse
- Assist with patient transportation within the hospital
- Attend team meetings and participate in patient care planning
Skills and Experience:
- Certification as a nursing assistant or Healthcare Assistant
- Prior experience working in a hospital is desirable
- A positive, proactive approach and committed to delivering the highest standards of care
- Be able to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
