Job description
St Mary's Hospital on Isles of Scilly is currently looking for a friendly, adaptable and committed Healthcare Assistant to work with the Inpatient, MIU and Community Nursing Teams.
St Mary’s Hospital has 10 inpatient beds, an Outpatient Department, day hospital and a Minor Injury Unit providing 24-hour nurse-led care with 24-hour medical expertise provided by 3 resident GP's. The service also runs a community nursing service providing community nursing cover to people on the islands.
This post is part-time working 22½ hours a week and will include day & night duties and weekends. An Island Living Allowance of 5% of the salary will be paid to any successful applicant resident on the island. The role offers opportunities for personal and professional development.
The Isles of Scilly comprises 20 small islands, and a hundred small rocky outcrops, situated off the South West coast of Cornwall. Five of the islands are inhabited, with St Mary’s Hospital being situated on the largest island. We have a unique culture and way of life, low crime rates, a beautiful environment and a much slower pace of life. There is a resident population of 2,500 people, rising to 8,000 in the summer due to the influx of tourists.

The purpose of the post is:
- To assist in the delivery of clinical care, planned and assessed by the Registered Nurses.
- To carry out care / other duties under indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Assistant Practitioner
- Support care on a day-to-day basis for all patients in the clinical area in a manner sensitive to the individual clients needs and wishes, acknowledging their rights and beliefs at all times
- Contribute to resource management within the clinical area
