About the Role

Beacon Health Group is recruiting to the role of healthcare assistant to join our team, based across our three sites. The position will solely be for phlebotomy clinics, for 18 hours per week across 4 mornings: Monday - Thursday, 8am-12:30pm.

Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse, and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, you will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. The healthcare assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas such as:
  • wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines;
  • new patient health checks;
  • re-stocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines;
  • clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms;
  • preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations;
  • providing valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers.

About the Candidate

If you are a qualified and experienced healthcare assistant looking for a fresh and exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and qualifications:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent;
  • Ideally a qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture;
  • Strong clinical skills;
  • Confidence and competence in all HCA duties required for the post;
  • Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting;
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues;
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Due to the size of our group, Beacon Health Group Partnershipis an exceptionally diverse and forward thinking practice. We operates over three sites; the main site, Danbury Medical Centre is based in the village of Danbury. We have two smaller branch sites which are Mountbatten House Surgery (based in North Springfield) and Moulsham Lodge Surgery (based in central Chelmsford).

The Beacon Health Group is now able to offer our patients a wider variety of services ranging from chronic disease clinics to minor surgery services (performed within the new purpose built Minor Surgery Suite based at Danbury). We also provide Friday extended morning appointments between 7.00am-8.00am, Monday and Wednesday evening appointments between 6.30pm-8.00pm provided by GPs and nurses.
