This is a fantastic opportunity to join Business Improvement and Support for City Operations!
A relatively new position was created as part of a re-configuration of the management team for Business Improvement and Support in City Operations. This role is crucial to ensuring our high-level of support to City Operations continues and flourishes. We want to provide best-in-class business support, do you think you have what it takes to step up and help us on our journey?
This role will be challenging, but rewarding. The successful candidate will be pivotal to ensure our new configuration is successful and continuously adds value to the service areas we support. We are looking for a relentlessly reliable individual who wants to seek improvement that benefits the citizens of our city. You should be ready to play an active role and expect your voice to be heard as part of an inclusive collective. You will need to be flexible in your approach and curious about exploring more efficient and effective ways of utilising digital tools and data.
What else are we looking for? We thrive off individuals who seek innovative solutions and use creative thinking, we want reflectors who can help assess what works well, you will undoubtedly require resilience in your efforts to support the Business Support Manager and your Business Support Officer colleagues, and champion the essence Everyone's Battle, Everyone's Business everyday.
The role will essentially be adding a layer of resilience to the service areas that we support by becoming knowledgeable in the areas to reduce the ask of front-line teams, you will be well organised and support the service areas (and your Business Support colleagues) by monitoring important deadlines (think audit recommendations, complaints, petitions, etc.) and adding assistance where appropriate to ensure compliance, you will be forward-thinking and produce new and exciting pieces of work for the service before they even realise they need it! Most importantly of all, you need to be able to effectively communicate at all levels and create strong, long-lasting connections.
There are no direct line reports into this position, however the opportunity is there to help support and develop the Business Support Officers in your area. This may well be an ideal role for anyone with aspirations to become a Business Support Manager or take on higher positions in the organisation as part of your personal development plan. We are committed to supporting everyone in our service to accomplish their goals through our equitable Development approach.
You will also instantly receive communications through our shared Teams group, by joining our regular socials, and being involved in decisions that help shape how we function. There are also opportunities aplenty to get involved in project work, such as supporting our Complaints approach, contributing to the City Operations SharePoint site, or assisting with the twice annual Awards that we coordinate on behalf of the directorate. Where doors need opening, we will support you to make that a reality.
If you are interested in joining our vibrant, diverse, and bold team - then this could well be the opportunity you have been waiting for!
