A proficient support worker who assists the Registered Nurse/Multidisciplinary team in the planning, preparation and implementation of care. To work collaboratively with others to meet the needs of the patients and their families/carers. Duties are carried out under the supervision of professionally qualified practitioners. To prepare the department for the days clinics, including setting up clinical rooms and ensuring the patients notes are available. To support the patient and their family/carer within the clinical room. To clean the clinical room/equipment between patients. To decontaminate certain equipment to the required standard. To clean and tidy the department at the end of the working day. Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure the patients needs are met. Involve patients, relatives/carers in the delivery of care, providing reassurance and support to assist their understanding and co-operation. Prepare the clinical area for safe practice by ensuring cleanliness is maintained, materials and equipment are ready for use, and to include clearing away afterwards. To provide escort and transfer for patients with low dependency as directed by the multidisciplinary team. To recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. To provide routine information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and records maintained. To contribute the recording and storing of information, manual and digital, ensuring it is securely held, accurate, complete and legible and can be retrieved promptly when required.
