An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Cardiothoracic Operating Theatre team at The James Cook University Hospital. We are seeking a motivated individual who has been trained to NVQ level 3 or willing to work towards to become part of a highly motivated and valued professional team.
Cardiothoracic Theatres operate Monday to Friday only. An On Call commitment is required to provide a 24 hour service. This commitment attracts an extra payment.
Role of the healthcare assistant in operating room is to prepare and maintain operating theatres and equipment, assist surgical and anaesthetic teams during operations, and provide support to patients.

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.
