At the Wells Road Centre we currently have vacancies for Healthcare Assistants who are caring and compassionate about working with an adult patient group with mental health problems who at times can present as challenging and demanding.

We are looking for healthcare workers that are passionate about nursing and patient focused. Applicants need to be enthusiastic, dynamic and committed to working as part of a team and under the supervision of qualified nurses.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate initiative, resilience and have excellent communication skills.

As well as developing valuable skills, knowledge and experience of Forensic Nursing, our service offers a comprehensive induction programme and opportunities for continued personal and professional development through ongoing training, education, supervision and appraisal. As you develop we also have opportunities to support you to develop as a senior Health care assistant at grade band 3.

You should ideally have experience of working with adults, although this does not need to be in a caring environment and have excellent communication skills. You must also be able to work over a 7 day week, 24 hour shift pattern, including regular night shifts.

The role will require an individual with the ability to work effectively under the supervision and leadership from a registered nurse in the provision of care to a specific patient group within the directorate

  • participate in the development and maintenance of high quality patient care through involvement in assessment, planning, implementation and
evaluation.
  • Working within a clinical environment in a hospital setting, delivering patient care. Liaising with the
clinical and nursing team to ensure continuity of care

Nottinghamshire Low Secure and Community Forensic Directorate is a countywide specialist service, providing low secure treatment to adult male and female patients with an identifiable mental illness, personality disorder or intellectual disability and a history of offending behaviour.

The Directorate is based at the Wells Road Centre in Nottingham with 5 wards.
  • Trent, Porchester & Thurland ward cater for male patients with a mental health diagnosis.
  • The 4th male ward, Lister caters for those individuals with an Intellectual Disability Diagnosis.
  • We also have 1 ward, Seacole which caters for 15 women with mental health issues.
We have a Nottinghamshire wide community forensic team that supports our patients to continue to rehabilitate after hospital admission.'

Assisting with all the activities of daily living, addressing the physical and mental health care needs of patients – promoting individual health and well being.

Undertake, record and report clinical observations as directed by registered staff.

Assist in the treatment/activities for the patient which may involve accompanying informal patients outside the ward environment.

To engage and treat the patients as individuals and enable them to achieve maximum independence

To maintain accurate, timely and relevant clinical records both
written and computerised. To maintain the safe custody of healthcare records

To undertake any other duties that would be a reasonable expectation of the role
