Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Assistant to join our team . On average we see 300 patients per day. We are currently developing and expanding our services.

You must be able to work flexibly between the hours of 8.30am - 7.30pm.

As part of the interview process, if you are successful at shortlisting, you will be expected to complete the Numeracy and Literacy Assessment prior to your interview. Results of this will be issued on the day.

Oncology patients attend the department for consultations with the doctors. They also receive supportive therapies, sub-cut/im injections. We help patients organise their appointments and their journey through oncology. We also manage the running of the clinics and clinic prep.

Essential criteria

  • Good standard of written English to an equivalent standard of GCSE Grade C or above.
  • To be educated to GCSE grade C or above or equivalent standard including English and Maths Level of education

Desirable criteria

  • NVQ / QCF 3 in Healthcare
  • Evidence of Professional Development Completed
  • HCA academy at NUH Completed Care Certificate

Communication and relationship

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrates clear and effective written and verbal communciaiton skills

Desirable criteria

  • Demonstrate Computer literacy & use of IT skills – e.g. e-mail, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Demonstration of team working and ability to work within a team Demonstrates ability to communicate with multidisciplinary team

Planning and Organisation

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrates effective time management skills

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

  • Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£41.90 for enhanced and £21.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
