The Regional Hyperacute Rehabilitation Unit (RHRU) forms the hub of the Northwest regional rehabilitation service network and acts as a central focus for research and training of all professions in rehabilitation. RHRU is one of 8 rehabilitation units forming the level 1 specialist services within the NHS London. The Regional Rehabilitation Unit is a growing 24 bed inpatient neurological unit that offers intensive multi-disciplinary neurorehabilitation to adults with severe and complex cognitive, communicative, and physical difficulties. This may be due to traumatic brain injury, CVA or other neurological conditions. You could be working as part of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team specialising in Neurorehabilitation and Hyper-Acute Neuro care. Providing holistic, patient centred, goal focused rehabilitation to patients with a variety of Neurological conditions. We offer the opportunity to work within a specialist who are all committed to delivering quality patient care with a strong focus on staff development from clinical supervision including opportunities for training and development educational support is available both in house and externally. The development of clinical assessment skills that will promote the nursing process towards patient care is one of our strong driving forces in maintaining excellence in what we do. Nursing practice is driven by the achievement of the Trust key clinical indicators to promote quality care.

Healthcare AssistantBand 2 – Regional Hyper-acute Rehabilitation Unit

Hours: 37.5 per week

Shifts: Long day and nights

Tenure: Permanent

Site: Northwick Park/Central Middlesex Hospital

Main Duties:
1. Assists qualified staff by undertaking personal care duties for patients.
2. Reports on patients’ condition to qualified staff
3. Performs clerical and housekeeping duties as delegated by the Ward Manager.
4. Works co-operatively with others in the unit in ensuring good inter-disciplinary team work to meet the needs of patients with severe complex neurodisability, and their families
5. Be able to communicate with the multi-disciplinary team members, families and the patient in a professional manner.
6. Assist with patient nutritional needs.
7. Answer the telephone and patient call bell in a timely manner and ensures accurate messages are communicated accurately to the nurse in charge .
8. Participates fully in the delivery of planned nursing care, as directed by qualified nurses.
9. Recognizes and responds appropriately to urgent and emergency situations, being aware of own competence and asking for assistance as required.
10. Undertakes recording of temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure, collecting and testing specimens as required and reporting findings to nurse in charge of patient care.
11. Assists in bed making and the disposal of soiled linen
