At Harptree & Cameley Surgeries we are expanding our workforce and an opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly rural practice in the beautiful Mendip Hills. We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate and energetic individual who is a team player and would be interested in joining our practice, providing care from two sites in West Harptree and Temple Cloud.
Our clinical team of seven Doctors, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two Nurses, two Healthcare Assistants and other associated healthcare professionals, strive to provide a balance of work and life, whilst providing continuity of care for the satisfaction of our 7,000 patients and our practice team.
The successful candidate will already have or be able to develop a wide range of skills in:
- Phlebotomy (blood taking)
- Blood pressure monitoring
- New patient health checks
- NHS health checks
- ECG recording
- Hypertension reviews
- Flu vaccinations
- Urinalysis
- Weight management
- Smoking cessation
- Diabetic foot checks
- Vitamin B12 injections
- Simple dressings
- Assisting with infection control measures and policies in the practice
- Preparation and processing of laboratory samples
- Regular stock control of medical equipment in consulting and treatment rooms as well as ordering of clinical supplies
Skills in blood taking would be preferable but not essential as training could be provided in all aspects of the job.
Candidates should be approachable, have excellent communication skills and be able to work within a changing environment.
We are seeking a candidate available to work for two or three mornings a week with a rate of pay starting at £10.80 per hour for a candidate who already has the skills listed above (£10.42 per hour for candidates that require training).
