Job description

Are you a talented Control Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to apply your skills and make a significant impact? Join our client’s dynamic team in Cambridgeshire as they revolutionise the food supply chain with cutting-edge technology. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Control Engineer to join the team and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of electrical & control systems.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively with other engineers to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement control systems to robotics/automated machinery.
  • Conduct system modelling and simulation to optimise control strategies and performance.
  • Perform system analysis and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues in control systems.
  • Commission software changes virtually
  • Write code with the end user in mind
  • Work with software embedded hardware, including electrical and pneumatic
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies in control systems
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in control system design and implementation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with PLC programming e.g., Beckhoff or equivalent, e.g., Siemens S7 PLCs in the TIA Portal environment
  • Experience in electrical design e.g., Eplan, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SmartDraw, Electra E8, ASolidWorks Electrical Schematics etc.
  • Hands on experience in designing and implementing control systems, from concept to final solution
  • Experience with programming languages commonly used in control system development (e.g., C++, Python, Java).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse complex systems.
  • Background in agricultural, feed/food processing and/or manufacturing sectors (desirable)
