Job description
To assist in the provision of nursing care (psychological, spiritual, sociological and physical), to patients in hospital as a member of the proactive nursing team.
Direct care will be delivered to patients suffering a range of problems including: stroke & neurology, dementia/confusion, falls/fractures, heart and respiratory conditions as well as palliative and terminal care.
To have the ability to recognise and report any changes in a patient’s condition and needs.

If you have been successful at the interview stage, but do not have enough experience for this role, you may be offered a position as a Band 2 Heath Care Assistant Apprentice. As part of the Band 2 HCA role you will be enrolled onto the Apprenticeship scheme, providing you with the opportunity to earn as you learn. This role enables you to gain valuable experience on the wards/community settings whilst working towards gaining your Care Certificate and naturally progressing into the guaranteed Band 3 HCA role.
- To involve patients and their carers/relatives in delivery of patient care.
- To assist patients with their personal care, this will involve helping the patient to wash, dress and use the toilet.
- To monitor the patients’ dietary and fluid intake, this will include the use of special diets and modified fluids.
- To provide escorts for patients and undertake transfer of patients as directed.
- To assist patients with their rehabilitation programme, to work with our therapy team to help patients reach their goals and full potential in preparation for discharge.
