Job description
Introduction Whether you are looking for a new career or already work in healthcare through the NHS or private sector, if you’re looking for a secure and rewarding career where you can help people in need then join the team at our Kendal sites as a Healthcare Assistant and experience what delivering great healthcare should feel like. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of satisfaction and self-reward that comes from this job, where you’re directly contributing to helping people with learning disabilities and/or autism along their care pathway. It comes with a £1,000 Welcome Bonus, along with all necessary training to get you up to speed. From there you’ll have access to a huge range of career development opportunities to continue to expand your skillset and grow your Healthcare Assistant career. If you have aspirations, we can help you achieve them. If you’re new to healthcare and are not sure if this role is for you, watch this video to get an insight into what the role could involve. What you will be doing You will join an inclusive and supportive team that works well together over three sites across Kendal to provide care to people with learning disabilities. The working pattern equates to 40-hour weeks, working 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts one week, 4 shifts the next. Working across three sites in Kendal naturally provides a good amount of variety, where a typical day as a Healthcare Assistant could include helping residents to make food and get dressed, taking them out for activities – be it a walk or a trip to the cinema, playing games with them, and generally supporting them to be engaged in meaningful occupation. It can be a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve; being able to do something today that they couldn’t do last week because of you. Plus, the Elysium Wellbeing team is on hand to keep you feeling great; be it a chat, massage or group activities. Where you will be working Location: Kendal, Cumbria Our Kendal sites provide enhanced levels of support which allows people with continuing challenging behaviour and high support needs to be cared for in the least restrictive setting possible, but within a service which is robust and structured enough to meet their ongoing needs and risks. The service ensures people lead positive and meaningful everyday lives, where they have choice and control, accessing mainstream services and facilities, engaging in work and training, in leisure opportunities, hobbies and areas of personal interest. Residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible with the long-term aim of people moving onto a more independent living setting. What you will get Free transport to get to work is available from Barrow-in-Furness, Dalton-in-Furness, Ulverston and Grange.
