We are looking to employ a nursing support worker for a 1 year secondment/fixed term contract to help support the established team both in a clinic setting and home visits.
A background in respiratory conditions, care and specialist exercise would be beneficial but is not essential as full training and support will be offered to enable you to carry out the role with confidence. As this is a community post, being a car owner/driver would be beneficial in carrying out the role.
The cardiorespiratory team delivers a range of services within Merton in a variety of settings. The team is multi disciplinary and made up of respiratory and cardiac nurses, physiotherapists, and nursing support workers.
The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) works as a key member of the team providing assistance and support to the patients and clinicians.
The post holder’s main role is to support and assist the clinicians in delivering specialist respiratory care in a variety of settings such as the state of the art Nelson Health Centre, patient’s homes and our rehabilitation classes. The HCA supports the team to deliver excellent patient care and high quality clinical outcomes for Merton residents.
The HCA will be assisted to become proficient and competent in their role with training, education and clinical support. The team has weekly multi disciplinary meetings to share good practice, plan the workload and discuss patient treatment. The cardiorespiratory team prides itself in developing all team members to reach their full career potential and progress within the trust and the NHS.

- To work under the supervision of the professional staff in the multi-disciplinary team for the care and rehabilitation of patients.
- To contribute to the on-going assessment of a patient by completing the appropriate paperwork, recording and reporting all clinical and behavioural information to the nurse/therapist for action and planning purposes.
- To perform nursing and therapy procedures where necessary for which adequate training has been given.
- To be conversant with care plans of those patients with whom you work with directly prior to each intervention.
