If you have what we are looking for then you could be joining a small enthusiastic team who are passionate in the field of Health and Safety. Having previous experience within a similar Health and Safety role, with a NEBOSH General Certificate or working towards it, and confident when engaging with people and contractors is essential.
What will you be doing in more detail?
As the Health & Saefty Officer you will be based at out new Logistic Warehouse in Litchfield with requirement to travel to other warehouse sites in Wednesbury, Head Office and the Retail Showrooms and Outlets. You will advise and support the management teams across the business to ensure that Health & Safety legislation is adhered to and employees across the business are working in safe environments. You will be overseeing training of employees ensuring site specific inductions are carried as well as supporting training requirements when they are needed either internal or external courses. You will be investigating all accidents and incidents as they arise and working with the teams to implement processes to reduce the risk of re-occurrence.
Training
You will receive an induction training programme to help you understand how your role sits within the business.
Job Description
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Management and continuous improvement of Health and Safety across all UK sites
- Direct responsibility for Health & Safety of all employees and visitors at all UK sites
- Investigating incidents, accidents and any Health and Safety complaints company wide
- Writing, publishing, and maintaining internal Health and Safety policies/strategies
- Liaising with relevant authorities and sub-contractors where necessary
Key Deliverables will include:
- Ensure a safe workplace environment.
- Ensure that all Health and Safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to, regularly reviewed and improved upon where necessary.
- Continuous review of all working practices, risk assessments, advise and suggest improvements.
- Compiling statistics and publishing a 6 monthly report to the Board of Directors
- Ensure accidents are documented, investigated and recommendations of improvements are implemented by producing KPIs of any accidents and near miss, including RIDDOR reporting.
- Ensure safety inspections are carried out, fire drill and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and long working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Co-ordinate the development of Health and Safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
- Ensure full and accurate Health and Safety and training records are managed.
- Co-ordinate a full programme of documented health and safety inspections, audits, and checks.
- Keep up to date with all aspects of Health, Safety and Welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
- Manage all H&S meetings, planning groups and site visits as required.
- Control any H&S training and staff inductions.
- Pro-actively review all H&S equipment cost and source new costs when required.
- To advise and support Managers and stakeholders on Health and Safety matters.

- Experience within a Health & Safety Role
- Understanding of Statutory Legislation
- Experience of Health and Safety Training
- Experience of Accident Investigations
- Minimum IOSH Managing Safely
