Job Summary:
This position is responsible for safety, health and environmental programs and their related activities. The Safety Representative will ensure compliance with all established SHEA programs and maintain compliance with location and Flowserve standards.
The Role:
Reporting to the Director/Plant Manager you will be responsible for maintaining the facilities compliance with accreditations such as ISO14001, ISO45001, and Flowserve Policies, whilst ensuring that we continually improve the health and safety of our employees.
Your analytical skills will be used to generate health and safety data. assessing and identifying risk factors and employing appropriate initiatives to improve Site Health and Safety metrics.
Using critical thinking and reasoning skills, along with problem-solving techniques you will be required to generate, evaluate, and support the implementation of solutions to health and Safety issues, brought about by process or equipment changes, engaging with Managers and Supervisors to ensure agreed timelines are met.
Responsibilities:
- Manage environmental, health, and safety activities through strong leadership, communication, motivation and direction of safety committee
- Conduct a rigorous incident investigation process focused on, prevention, root cause analysis and injury prevention leading indicators
- Coordinate safety training for all employees in the areas of Safety Health & Environmental matters
- Develop and administer New Hire Orientation Safety Training Investigate and maintain records for all work-related injuries and/or illnesses, provide statistical analysis, and assist department management in the development of effective health and safety countermeasures to continuously improve safety objectives
- Serve as co-chair on the Joint Health and Safety Committee and help to coordinate activities, recommendations, and accountability of issues identified by the Safety regulations and Flowserve corporate audits
- Conduct monthly workplace safety audits and establish measurable standards from which further recommendations (continuous improvement) can be made, with effective follow-up
- Coordinate emergency evacuation procedures, training, and practice drills
- Ensure all environmental reports are submitted accurately and on time pertaining air, storm water and sanitary sewer discharge permits
- And any other duties assigned.
Requirements:
- BEng, BSc. or BA Degree in relevant field and 3-5 years relevant experience
- Experience within Health, Safety and Environmental, compliance, audits and documentation
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Articulate with strong organizational skills
- Ability to manipulate data to produce relevant analyses, reports and presentations
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
