Tri-Wall UK Group specialise in the design and manufacture of industrial multi-material packaging solutions to meet all of the packaging requirements of its many clients. Timber and corrugated form the core products of our portfolio at the moment.
Job Background/Purpose
Tri-Wall UK understand their responsibility towards our stakeholders and recognises the need to expand HSER management to cover all UK sites. As such, this is a newly created role to ensure that we are able to fulfil our legal and morale duties as required under Health, Safety & Environmental regulations and to ensure that they are implemented in line with best working practices.
The purpose of the role is to:
· apply best practice into Tri-Wall UK processes (to include both internal and external factors) and to deliver full benefits from our processes.
· ensure continual improvement in operating efficiencies throughout the business.
· be responsible for the identification of training needs through investigation and site development.
· ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with the Company H&S, Welfare and Environmental policies and ensure operating procedures are adhered to.
· support the Tri-Wall UK SMT (at all levels), internal and external bodies and associated groups.
Job Role
Working with the UK Senior Management Team, the role will be to manage the H&S, Environmental, product safety and risk in line with current and future procedures and to provide Senior Management with advice in related matters across the UK sites.
The role will be directly reporting to the UK Operations Director and will have no direct reports but will have QSHER representatives as dotted line for uniformity and to deliver initiatives.
To co-ordinate all aspects of internal and external HSER related issues that may arise and to support the site with customers on technical issues. This would include maintenance of external and internal NCR’s.
To work closely with all teams across the UK in order to investigate and implement corrective actions. With cross site and cross department influence required in the product quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
· To be the competent H&S Manager for Tri-Wall UK and to ensure that legal compliance is maintained.
· The development of H&S and Environmental plans for the sites to ensure that continual improvement within the systems can be maintained.
· To maintain our H&S, Environmental and product safety management systems.
· To develop initiatives, future best practice and drive the safety culture.
· To act as the management representative when dealing with external/auditing bodies in relation to set standards.
· Liaise with external bodies, including regulatory bodies such as HSE + NRW in matters that have a bearing on the operational function of the business.
· To provide the SMT with advice in the related fields to ensure that the business continues to be compliant.
· To induct all new employees through IOSH Working Safely/Managing Safely and internal Safe Systems of Work.
· Coach and develop the team through team briefs reporting QSHE issues.
· Assist with the training needs of the business.
· To collate information on a monthly basis regarding accidents, incidents, and to present them to the SMT and Managers as required.
· Monitor and report on quality key performance indicators.
· To monitor and lead improvement through internal process control.
· To complete and support internal audits on management systems.
· To work with other site QSHE representatives towards standardisation of all management systems.
· Drive and maintain the standards set to include quality and consistency of our products.
· Encourage the team to make suggestions and to deliver presentations to both management and colleagues.
· Participate and supervise customer-initiated projects and reviews.
· Support new product introduction, adhering to the trial procedure.
· To provide customer support where viable.
· Work with the employees to assist with corrective action on quality and waste issues.
· Meet annual agreed improvement targets.
· To monitor, plan and implement quality associated cost improvements.
· Participate in waste reduction program.
Requirements
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Manufacturing management experience.
· Extensive knowledge and experience of the manufacturing process, within a packaging environment.
· Good knowledge of print and conversion processes, to support customer issues.
· Knowledge of multi material uses and scope.
· Essential - ISO 9001/14001/18001 / FSC (nice to have) product safety- BRC/IOP standards knowledge.
· Auditing certification may be required.
· NEBOSH Certificate Essential.
· IEMA Qualification.
