Job description
We're looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Officer to join our team. This is a new role in the business. You'll be mainly field based with a minimum of 1 day at head office per week. This role is to assist the HSEQ Manager in complying with the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, RISQS, CHAS, Constructionline and HSE standards and legislation.
A proactive approach will be required to enhance the procedures and processes already in place and further develop the safety culture within the company.
Duties include:
· Keeping up to date with changes in the legislation and standards through continual professional development
· Assisting Project Managers with risk assessments
· Developing safe systems of work and training modules
· Staff training and awareness to ensure staff are appropriately trained on safe systems of work and receive all the relevant health and safety information including duties imposed by the Health & Safety Executive
· Carry out site inspections and reporting.
· Recording and investigating all accidents and near misses.
· Reporting any serious workplace accident, occupational disease and specified dangerous occurrence under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (“RIDDOR”).
· Attending site meetings with clients to discuss health & safety issues and attending pre-site meetings with the Project Manager as required
· Promoting a health and safety culture by leading by example and challenging any unsafe behaviour brought to their attention.
It is essential that you hold your NEBOSH General Certificate – NEBOSH Construction preferred
Previous experience in a construction health and safety & environmental and or an occupational health coordinator role (rail background would be an advantage)
