Job description

The NHS is changing. More emphasis on community-based care means there’s never been a better time to join us.

As a Smoke Free Pregnancy Officer you will be part of a friendly and dynamic team offering a home visit service to pregnant women in order to support them to quit smoking.

Our philosophy is to support, encourage and enable people to go smoke free, with no judgements and no lectures, so you’ll need to be at ease with talking to people from a range of ages and backgrounds, and have the ability to provide them with the support and encouragement they need.

You will develop key working relationships with pregnant women, midwives and/or Health Visitors, ensuring a holistic package of care to support wellbeing and to empower mothers to quit smoking.

You will ensure:

  • 100% of pregnant women referred to the Stop Smoking Service are offered a home visit
  • All home visits include the 7 week Smoke Free programme
  • Provision of NRT products where appropriate
  • To seek the opportunity for further family quits
  • To endeavour to support 50% of women referred to take up the service
  • Follow up post-natally at 26 and 52 weeks
