Health Coach (Healthy Communities Lead)
Hours: 32 hours per week
Location: Meridian* Centre, Havant*
Salary: Up to £22,737.00
We have a fantastic and brand-new opportunity for a Health Coach to join us on our exciting journey as we transform our business from Good to Great.
In this role you will be working with a variety of people from all backgrounds both in our leisure centres and within the local community to engage them in physical activity. Part of this role will be managing referrals to support people with health conditions by designing and prescribing physical activity programmes. This will involve motivational interviewing to overcome barriers and support in goal setting to achieve improved quality of life. This role will also deliver a range of activities to a variety of user groups ensuring all needs are identified, considered, and met to help increase physical activity levels in the community. The ideal person will be passionate and people focused. We are looking for a qualified Gym Instructor with an exercise referral qualification and a passion for supporting people in the local community.
What does the role involve?
- Deliver a variety of physical activity sessions in the community.
- Deliver health checks in the community and offer advice and guidance.
- Manage and build relationships in collaboration with other services in the areas.
- To maintain the safety and wellbeing of customers.
- To record accurate data and report on projects progress and KPI's.
- Follow key principles within the community health and well being strategy to improve the health of the local community.
- Utilise preventive strategies to improve the health of individuals through education and support.
- Support people to overcome personal barriers when it comes to behaviour change.
Experience:
- Working with minority groups
- Delivering physical activity sessions
- Managing exercise referrals and delivering positive outcomes
- Coaching and motivational interviewing
- Working with people of all levels of ability, personalities, and backgrounds
- Leading groups of individuals and keeping individuals engaged
Qualifications (Essential) :
- Level 2 Gym Instructor
- Level 3 Exercise Referral Qualification (or willing to work towards)
Qualifications (Desirable) :
- Level 4 qualifications in Cancer and Exercise rehabilitation
- Level 4 Certificate in exercise training for chronic respiratory disease
- Level 4 Cardiac Phase IV Rehabilitation
- Level 4 Certificate in Weight Management for Individuals with Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus and/or Metabolic Syndrome
- Level 4 Certificate in Delivering Physical Activity for Individuals with Mental Health Conditions
- Level 4 Specialist Postural Stability Instructor in The Prevention of Falls Qualification
- Level 4 Exercise and Fitness Training after Stroke Instructor
- Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
- MECC training
- ESCAPE-Pain Training
- INWA Nordic Walking Instructor
Skills and competencies:
- Self-motivated, driven and able to use their initiative.

- Be confident in leader groups of individuals and keeping individuals engaged.
- Have a good knowledge and understanding of mental health and how it can impact people.
- Have a good knowledge of the key principles affecting health and wellbeing.
