This is an exciting opportunity to join the chemotherapy suite. The role of the HCSW is extremely important to provide safe and excellent care to our patients.
The role will involve extra clinical skills such as cannulation, venepuncture and ECG's.
An Opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Support Worker in the Chemotherapy/ Haematology suite caring for both Haematology and Oncology patients.
About the Department…
The Chemotherapy/Haematology suites at Pilgrim Hospital are friendly and busy departments providing chemotherapy and other treatments to both Oncology and Haematology patients. In addition, the department undertakes PICC line flushes, blood transfusions and numerous other supportive day case activities.
About the Role / What we’re looking for..
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of appropriate care, alongside the staff nurses. They will be responsible for undertaking patient observations, addressing their hygiene needs and catering for their nutritional requirements. It will involve caring for acutely ill patients at times. The position also offers the opportunity to undertake some extended roles and improve their clinical skills. We would expect the applicants to be skilled in blood competencies/collection. You must possess good written and verbal communication skills. There will be a need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the chemotherapy/haematology service.
