Don't hesitate - we are looking for a talent like you! To assist patients to carry out personal care including meeting hygiene, nutrition and continence needs. To assist patient to mobilise where appropriate. Taking and recording of temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height and weight on instruction from the qualified nurse. Recording the results appropriately and reporting any abnormalities to the Nurse or Nurse in Charge. Testing specimens and recording the results. Under the supervision of the qualified nurse, support patients undergoing clinical procedures ensuring their comfort and safety. Chaperone and assist the clinicians and staff working within the clinic. To restock departmental areas as required reporting any shortages to the NiC/Ward Manager. To adhere to the policy for the Control of Infection. To maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business. To participate in quality assurance programmes as required. To participate in the promotion of a positive learning environment and to act as a role model at all times. To be aware of and contribute to Clinical Governance arrangements/issues for area of work. Communication The ability to communicate effectively with a patient enriches the life of that person and reduces stress during hospitalisation. The healthcare support worker provides a great deal of care to our patients, and self-aware HCSW who is educated and supported can hear the voice of the patient, and provide sensitive, compassionate, person-centered care. Skills in using both verbal and non-verbal communication are essential. Service Delivery and Improvement Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional depending on setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence. People Management and Development To participate in the promotion of a positive learning environment and to act as a role model at all times. Patient Care Delivery To assist patients to carry out personal care including meeting hygiene, nutrition and continence needs. To assist patient to mobilise where appropriate. Recording the results appropriately and reporting any abnormalities to the Nurse or Nurse in Charge. Support patients undergoing surgery ensuring their comfort and safety. Chaperone and assist the clinicians and staff working within the clinic. Ensure appropriate stock levels and equipment availability to support the smooth running of the clinics at all times Learning and Development Attend mandatory training updates as required. Commit to complete 2-week induction training, and Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment. Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with the line manager as part of the personal development process. Achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales. Identify own learning needs and jointly plan training requirements with your line manager Participate in the Trust’s appraisal process to discuss how your role will help deliver the best possible care to our patients and help to deliver any changes in service.
