Here at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust we are currently recruiting for a band 3 healthcare assistant in womens clinic to cover for maternity leave. The role will be a 10 month fixed term contract
Our fantastic Womens Clinic is a busy, fast paced out patient area dealing with all aspects of Womens health including antenatal care and outpatient clinical gynecology procedures. As a clinic HCA you will be working alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide excellence in care to our patients
The Health Care Assistant will function as part of the multi disciplinary team within the ward or department to provide a seamless service & high quality care to patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The HCA is expected to undertake care to meet the needs of the patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, working within the Trust's policies and procedures and the philosophy of the ward. Be able to supervise & act as a role model to other Health Care Assistants, working collaboratively as part of the ward team.
It is expected that the Health Care Assistant will continue to develop their own capabilities and knowledge of nursing tasks in line with the Trusts career pathway.
The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 3 or 4 in health or health and social care or an equivalent qualification or experience as well as experience of undertaking clinical activities.
Internal candidates will need to seek permission from their line manager before applying for this role on a secondment basis.

The role will involve chaperoning in both Gynaecology and maternity clinics, supporting the clinician to provide care.
- The HCA will be responsible for obtaining competencies in procedure clinics namely Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy clinics
- You will coordinate clinics to ensure the smooth running of the service which requires the HCA to be competent at taking baseline observations
- Be required to work within the Glucose Tolerance Service which requires the HCA to be competent at phlebotomy
- Keep the working environment clean and well stocked
- The HCA will be required to fulfill their allocated task within the clinic
- Support and train junior/new staff
