We have 5 operating suites covering Cardiac, Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmic, Plastics, General/Vascular, Urology and Gynaecology. And we work with surgeons who are the very best in their field
As a Healthcare Assistant you will contribute to the delivery of care needs to the patients by assisting the team in providing a high standard of clinical care. You will support the qualified staff in preparing equipment and the theatres to deliver safe standards of quality care for patients requiring surgery. And also assist with transporting patients to and from the ward.
What you’ll do:

Assist clinical staff during surgery, undertaking circulating duties which include collecting, checking, setting up equipment and positioning patients.

Ensure instruments are prepared and ready before procedures and assist with the cleanliness and maintenance of the theatres.

Welcome and receive patients, visitors, and colleagues to the Unit.

Perform pre-operative patient checks before accompanying patients to theatres.

Takes an active role in the achievement of the core competencies associated with the role and their own learning and development.

Performs stock expiry checks, stock rotation and stock up across the department as required.

Participates in infection prevention and control actions, including but not limited to cleaning of clinical areas, medical equipment, and storage areas.

Always ensure the needs and concerns of patients and their friends/relatives are

given thorough attention and a friendly and efficient service is provided.

Report to a qualified practitioner, any changes in a patient’s condition that may require

Refer patients’, relatives’, and colleagues’ queries to the Clinical Staff.

Accompany patients (including their friends and relatives) between Departments.

Assist patients with eating and drinking when required.
What you’ll bring:

Good communicator/interpersonal skills.

Good Verbal and written skills.

Experience in an operating theatre, ward, or outpatient setting

NVQ Level 3 (Direct Patient Care) Desirable
