ESTHER SWIFT LIMITED work with young people in our 24 hours staff accommodation-based service and the floating support service to resolve their difficulties and challenges, to develop their future independence. This includes assisting them with:
- Education, training, and employment – e.g., returning to school, attending college, enrolling in classes, gaining access to volunteering, work placements and apprenticeships and assistance with job applications and interviews.
- Housing – e.g., eligibility for local authority assistance, access to emergency accommodation, exploring the option of returning to the family home, help with tenancy and home management skills.
- Finances – e.g., eligibility for benefits, help with debt, rent arrears and budgeting.
- Family and/or relationship breakdown - e.g., access to mediation.
- Personal development needs – e.g., developing confidence and increasing social participation.
Our company is currently seeking a Residential Support Workers and Support Workers to join our growing team. This position requires a combination of compassion and organisation skills. The ideal candidate will be competent at performing a variety of functions including assisting with daily administrative duties, preparing and encouraging healthy eating, accompany to appointment and assisting with recreational activities. The successful candidate will be able to perform duties quickly, self-motivate and work effectively in a team.
Responsibilities:
- To maintain and promote residential care work to high levels of professionalism expected by Estherswift Care and Ofsted.
- To contribute to the educational and social development of each young person and assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programs.
- To meet the emotional and physical needs of our young people and maximize opportunities for their development.
- To provide a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment in which young people can feel secure and free from harm.
- Provide induction to young person on admission, explaining house rules and welcome pack etc.
- Continually assess young people's needs and work with Team Leaders/ Managers to revise support plans in line with young person's changing needs and abilities.
SPECIAL CONDITION:
- This post requires the holder to do varying shifts, which include early morning and late evening work, sleep-in and an on-call rota system. The post holder also is required to work weekends as part of a rota and Bank Holidays when required. Sleeping-in duties are also required for which an additional payment is made.
- In accordance with the guidelines on Health and Safety, to accept responsibility for working within these guidelines and reporting any concerns to the Registered Manager.
- This post requires the holder must always have a clear DBS check. Changes to personal circumstances which may affect this must be notified to your line manager immediately.
EDUCATION:
- NVQ Level 2 / 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and / or minimum of two years’ experience within the Looked After Children Services Sector.
- Maths and English GCSEs (grade C or above)
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience of working with children and their families in some capacity. SKILLS
- An ability to effectively engage, sustain and disengage with young people and their families.
- An ability to develop productive working relationships between workers, the local community and other agencies.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to produce a variety of information to aid decision making.
- An ability to provide for the day-to-day care needs of young people and children.
- Recording skills and the ability to work effectively within a structured programme.
- Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual.
