Job Summary
This role is an exciting opportunity to work into the Newcastle GP Services (NGPS) Flexible Workforce Hub (Flexipool). Flexipool is a new and expanding active bank of clinical and non-clinical staff, covering multiple roles within General Practice. The aim of Flexipool is to provide flexible working into Primary Care, to cover planned leave, existing vacancies and short-notice unplanned absence across General Practice in Newcastle.
Joining the Flexipool team provides an opportunity to work into Primary Care across Newcastle in a way that suits you and your commitments, in addition to access to training, development and support. The Flexipool can act as a gateway into primary care if you are new to working in healthcare, or as a flexible working option if you work part time or have recently retired, and would like to stay involved and continue to develop your skills.
This role is offered on a 0 hours contract, and working hours are flexible and negotiable depending on your availability and practice vacancies. The job location will be varied across practices and services in Newcastle, and we will work with you to match an appropriate role to your location preferences.

Overview of Our Organisation
Newcastle GP Services (NGPS) is the GP federation for Newcastle-upon-Tyne. We are a member organisation for 27 out of the 30 general practices in Newcastle. Our role is to support them to provide excellent clinical care and a positive patient experience.
We’re a skilled team of non-clinicians and clinicians with significant experience working in healthcare. We help practices work at scale across Newcastle, providing targeted and effective patient care and innovative methods of working to improve quality and efficiency.

Job Description
· Undertake, record and follow guidelines for tasks and procedures for which you have received appropriate training, including: ECG recording, Phlebotomy, Blood pressure, B12/vaccinations, Aural care, Suture removal, Diabetic foot checks, Pulse rate and rhythm, Tympanic thermometer use/temperature recording, Height, weight and BMI, Waist circumference
· Chaperoning duties as needed
· NHS health checks
· Dealing with blood and body fluid spillages
· Processing of samples within the surgery/collection and handling of laboratory specimens
· Check equipment and stock ordering
· Assist GP with specialist clinics such as implants, coils and minor surgery
· Handle sensitive and confidential information
· Use of clinical IT systems, and maintaining accurate patient records
· Recognise and report issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults
Person Specification
Qualifications
· Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
· Care Certificate
· NVQ level 2 in health and social care or equivalent (desirable)
· Phlebotomy trained
Skills and Experience
· Patient/ Customer facing work experience (ideally within General Practice/Primary Care)
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work as part of a team
· Excellent time management skills, and ability to work under pressure
· Experience of GP systems (desirable)
· IT skills (desirable)
