Shelley Park Neuro Care Centre is a specialist neurological care provider located in Bournemouth, Dorset. We offer a service that is not only unique but both progressive and innovative in its field. Our service not only offers Nursing and Residential care, but rehabilitation and transitional pathways from intensive therapy programmes to supported living. Based over 4 units, accommodating up to 45 service users our service continues to evolve and respond to the world around us.
We are looking for new Health Care Assistants to join our team at Shelley Park Neuro Care Centre. We want a friendly, kind, honest, reassuring and an effective communicator, equally comfortable to act on instructions or work on their own initiative and someone who enjoys being part of a close-knit team.
Our Health Care Assistants deliver the highest standards of person centred care whilst respecting residents’ independence and choice. We will offer you training from day one and support with ongoing career development.
Please note this role requires working alternate weekends.

Main Purpose of the Role: to provide optimum care for Shelley Park residents. Within any of the Shelley Park Premises
Reporting To: Nurse on Duty/Manager
Main Duties- the following are some, though not an exclusive list, of the duties you will be expected to carry out:
· Make the residents your first priority at all times whilst on duty.
· Carry out personal care for all allocated residents in accordance with the individual’s care plan.
· Carry out clinical tasks for which you have received training and for which you are competent.
· Contribute to developing and maintaining cultures and strategies in which residents are respected and valued as individuals.
· Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace at all times.
· Report any health and safety or equipment failure/faults to the health and safety officer or deputy.
· Contribute to the protection of individuals against abuse.
· Receive, transmit, store and retrieve computer generated information. Comply with the General Data Protection Regulations.
· Contribute to the development and effectiveness of the team working within the centre.
· Work within multi-disciplinary teams in delivering individualised programme of care & rehabilitation to residents.
· Assist with and carry out agreed physiotherapy, mobility and movement programmes.
· Represent residents interests when they are not able to do so themselves.
· Promote communication with individuals where there are communication difficulties.
· Maintain a clean environment as per our Infection Control and COSHH policies.
· Assist residents with diet and fluid taking, record and report any observations to the nurse in charge.
· Monitor, record and assess pressure areas, any observations to be reported to a trained nurse.
· Ensure that the resident’s rooms and possessions are kept tidy and presentable at all times.
· Act as a key worker. Carry out shopping for personal items for individual residents.
· Answer the telephone, take messages and refer to the senior nurse in charge as per policy and procedure.
· Maintaining, cleaning and restocking of the sluices, equipment and resident’s possessions.
· To escort residents as required at the discretion of the trained nurse/therapist.
· Undertake any duties at the discretion of the trained nurse/therapist.
· Develop your own knowledge and practice in accordance with current legislation and maintain a personal development file.
· Attend mandatory in-house training and supervision sessions.
