Job Title:
Healthcare Assistant - Digestive Health Outpatients
Reports To:
Centre Director
Position Summary:
Responsible for rendering professional care to patients undergoing medical tests or procedures in the Centre, in accordance with established policies and procedures. Functions cooperatively with the healthcare team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· To be proficient and participate in outpatients’ clinics, diagnostic tests, and procedures, including proctoscopy, anorectal physiology, ultrasound, Fibroscan, banding / injection of haemorrhoids.
· Prepare and support patients before, during and after appointments, always maintaining patient dignity.
· Record patients’ observations prior to a test / procedure.
· Cannulation competency required.
· To be able to work both in a team and independently.
· To make decisions and troubleshoot.
· Help to maintain high standards of cleanliness of equipment and accessories in the centre.
· To assist in the maintenance of daily stock levels, departmental administration and responding to patient queries.
· Participate in routine daily quality assurance and calibration of equipment.
· To report equipment and environmental problems according to departmental protocols, and to initiate facilities, domestic services as required.
· To participate in audits and quality initiatives as appropriate and assist in collecting departmental statistics.
· Complete all necessary documentation and records for all patients undergoing any investigation.
· To develop professional and IT skills as demanded by the needs of the department, including using the centre patient records databases and reporting systems.
· To take responsibility for self-development on a continual basis, undertaking on the job and other training as required, and to participate in the departmental appraisal system.
· Assist in the promotion and development of new ideas and encourage other staff to do likewise.
· To attend and actively participate in departmental meetings in conjunction with senior colleagues to contribute a proactive approach to issues relating to quality of care, technical standards, efficiency improvements as applied to own area of work and that of colleagues.
· To assist consultant staff as and when required.
· Liaise with other centres and medical staff where appropriate.
· Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Profile
· Healthcare qualification essential
· Previous experience in the outpatient setting
· Experience in the private sector desirable
· Communication skills

Salary: £24,000.00-£26,000.00 per year

All staff & employees are required to wear a face covering, staff are tested weekly.
All patients and visitors are screened and temperature checked prior to coming to the clinic. Enhanced cleaning throughout the facility.
