Old Bridge Surgery are looking for an experienced and capable HCA to work 3 days a week on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have experience in a primary care setting and will have worked as an HCA for a minimum of two years.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Phlebotomy
  • New patient health checks
  • Simple dressings
  • ECG/blood pressures
  • INRs
  • Administration of Flu/Covid vaccinations etc
  • Chaperoning
  • Also desirable, but not essential as training will be given, are spiro/with reversibility and NHS Health Checks

Further responsibilities:

  • Assisting in clinical administration tasks
  • Monitoring fridges and logging cold chain records
  • Ordering clinical supplies as necessary
  • Assisting in seasonal clinics such as the flu / covid clinics
  • Participating in practice meetings
  • Reporting to the Lead Nurse and the nursing team
  • Undertaking any other necessary clinical and non-clinical tasks as delegated

What we're looking for:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as an HCA or in another clinical healthcare role.
  • You should be experienced in using a clinical software platform such as EMIS Web or System One and have experience using software associated with healthcare equipment such as ECG machines.
  • Ideally experienced in primary care, although secondary care experience is also welcome.
  • A bubbly, friendly, and positive person who is a team player and willing to get stuck into the role and lend a hand wherever it's needed.

As one of the practice HCAs, you will be responsible for managing your own time and workload and planning accordingly. The practice is keen for all clinical staff to undertake further training and will support you to develop your skills. You will be expected to support the clinical team and provide an excellent level of service to patients. Experience with EMIS Web is preferable but not required to apply for this post. Basic computer literacy is essential.

Old Bridge Surgery is a circa 9,900 patient practice located in Looe, Cornwall. We are a training practice with a friendly team which would suit an applicant looking for a long-term position.

The practice is COVID-secure and takes all necessary steps to ensure that infection prevention and control procedures are followed.

The position is for 25.5 hours per week (08:30>18:00).

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 27 per week

Salary: From £11.50 per hour
