Job summary
Lyme Valley Practice is looking for someone with commitment and passion to provide a first-class service to our patients and to work within our friendly clinical team as a Health Care Assistant. This is a full time post of 17 hours to be worked are:
- Monday 8:00am - 5:00pm (1 hour lunch)
- Tuesday 1:00 - 5:30 (CGM meeting)
- Friday 12:30 - 5:00(The option to consolidate Friday's hours and work alternate full days allowing for a one-hour lunch unpaid lunch break will be discussed at interview)
Interviews will be held Early-Mid January 2023.
Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities
The Health Care Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Health Care Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities include**
A range of health checks
ECG recording
Blood pressure monitoring
Phlebotomy
Spirometry
Wound care
Smoking cessation
Weight management
Chaperoning duties
Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
Summarising of paper records and read coding of clinical letters
Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
Ordering of clinical stocks and equipment.
Managing clinical waste.
Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
Cleaning and re-stocking consulting rooms

Person Specification
Experience
Essential
Qualifications:
- General education (eg GCSEs) to grade C or above
- Proof of commitment to professional development
Experience:
- Dealing with the public/patients
Knowledge/Skills:
- Excellent communication skills
- Willing to develop clinical skills and competency relevant to the role
- Able to communicate routine information that requires tact and persuasive skills, or where there may be barriers to understanding
- Able to organise own time and workload and cope with last minute changes
Education and Training:
- Willingness to undergo education / training for both Practice and Service needs
- Willingness to work towards professional and performance objectives (Appraisal)

- Experience of a GP Clinical System Previous phlebotomy experience

- Competent in basic healthcare duties required for the post
