An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join Central Middlesex Hospital theatre team as aBand 2 Healthcare Assistant.
You will be supported by registered staff in a busy but friendly environment; helping to set up equipment with advanced technology to serve our patients in different specialties. You will also contribute to the infection prevention measures and stock management of the department. The post holder must be a good communicator and a team player. The role will involve working collaboratively under direct supervision of registered staff to deliver quality, safe and efficient peri-operative care with HEART value to the patients.

The post holder will be responsible for:
- Supporting the surgical team in the preparation of sterile and non- sterile equipment.
- Prepare theatre prior to commencing a list in different specialties.
- Participate in circulation duties and swab count.
- Participate in transferring and positioning of unconscious patients intra-operatively.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy environment throughout theatres to comply with Infection Prevention Requirements.
- Maintaining consumable stock levels in theatres as well as in storage areas.
- Ensure adequate supply of medical gas cylinders in the department.
- Collect and transfer patients to and from the ward if required.
- Support out of hour emergency surgery as a member of the emergency Theatre team; rotate to weekends, nights or on call duties after training.

The department offers excellent training and development opportunities to staff. Newly appointed staff will have supernumerary induction period, supported by a Practice Development Nurse using our in-house competency documents to build up your confidence. We also offer external training to suitable candidates to widen participation in Peri-operative Care.
