Job Tittle Care Assistant
Job Hours
Flexible over night shifts, over seven days. 12- 36 Hours
Job Purpose
· To assist with delivering physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of the resident using a person-centred approach.
· To maintain good professional relationships with all residents, their families and friends and other care workers and managers at the home. Also, other professional agencies involved with the home.
· To promote resident choice, independence, dignity, privacy and inclusion in their daily lives.
· To actively support other care workers and the management team to deliver excellent service for the residents.
· To adhere to all policies, procedures and guidelines of the company along with regulatory and statutory obligations.
Job Responsibilities
Care Provision
· To provide personal care and support to residents with a wide range of needs, in a person-centred approach and in the least intrusive way.
· To know and understand the care needs of each individual resident.
· To participate in the homes key worker system, delivering person centred care, and providing input into the support and care plans, by being involved in meetings and reviews.
· To assist residents to get dressed in the morning and get ready for bed in the evening.
· To assist residents to shower bath, or wash.
· To assist residents to dress and undress.
· To assist residents to look after their teeth hair and nails.
· To assist residents that require feeding.
· To assist residents with toileting, continence management and personal care.
· To assist residents to take medication.
· To assist residents to remain hydrated by offering drinks throughout the day and if night if required.
· To use manual handling equipment safely and correctly.
· To take responsibility for the safe handling of resident’s property and equipment, and also the homes property.
· To assist when required and asked to do so with preparation and serving of food.
· To assist with laundry and general cleaning and tidying.
· To ensure at all times a safe living environment by adhering to the homes policies and procedures.
· To carry out regular checks throughout the night on service users.
· To carry out night cleaning duties using the checklist.
Recording and Reporting
· To maintain detailed accurate and factual information in respect of care and medication support given and tasks undertaken.
· To regularly read residents care plans and knowledge all changes.
· To protect the confidentiality of all information relating to the residents and the home, and not divulge information to anyone who is not authorised to receive it.
· To promptly report to the manager any concerns of well-being or behaviour of the resident and update records accordingly.
· To report any complaints to your senior in the first instance, if not resolved then report to the staff manager, if still not resolved then report to the homes manager who will refer you to the director of the company if you feel it is still not resolved.
General
· To dress appropriately, wearing uniform and using equipment provided by the home.
· Attend all in-house and external training and complete all E-learning required in relationship of your role.
· Attend regular team meetings, and any other relevant meetings as requested.
· To observe all health and safety, and take reasonable care to promote health and safety of self and others, by raising any concerns to the management.
· To carry out any duties requested by seniors or managers which are in the scope of the post.
Special Requirements
· You will be required to make sure that you have read understand and agree to the homes Employee handbook, which deals with such things as holiday entitlement absence from work, the homes policies and procedures and other information.
· You are to complete a full induction, and provide the home with copies of all qualifications if attained.
· You must agree to flexible working as evenings nights and week-end work will be required
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £9.50-£10.00 per hour
