Starting salary £53,391 with potential progression to £63,558pa on achieving designated skills and experience
37 hours per week (hybrid working)

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead the Council’s Health and Safety, Resilience and Business Continuity functions. You will lead on all health and safety matters relating to council buildings and safe working practices of employees and contractors, enabling the Council to fulfil its statutory obligations with regard to health, safety and wellbeing of all staff, services users and all those affected by the Council’s undertaking. You will be the Council’s lead advisor on contingency planning and organisational resilience to meet our statutory obligations under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and lead internal Business Continuity for the Council.
You will hold the NEBOSH National Diploma (Level 6) in Occupational Health and Safety or similar, with a high level of knowledge and experience in health and safety and a proven track record of achievement of working at a senior level in local authority or similar related organisation. You will have knowledge of major emergency plans and response (Civil Contingencies Act) and business continuity for organisations.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with good analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills, and an excellent communicator.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
