Scope of Role
The scope of the role is spread across the TPRG brands (Ryman, Robert Dyas, Boux Avenue and London Graphic Centre) and all functions within each of those brands.
The role is part of the Risk Management team and will require frequent contact with various other departments including retail stores, warehouse / distribution, retail operations, HR, contact centres and IT.
Overall Purpose
- Drives the safety strategy and operational plans for TPRG
- Act as the business expert on matters related to safety and ensure complex training and trading requirements are translated into a simple message that sites and leaders can comply with
- Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risk could be reduced / mitigated
- Direct focus on our DC’s whilst supporting the Regional Risk Managers to triage incidents and provide a second line independent investigative capability for our stores
Key Responsibilities
- Setting Policy, Standards and Procedures for the group ensuring their is appropriate guidance and support to make the Group a safe place to work and shop
- Working with leadership teams to identify the critical risks to our business activities and processes and
- Lead on serious investigations into safety concerns or other aspects of regulatory risk including age restricted sales, slips / trips / falls and insurance claims and in a crisis provide support to the Crisis Management Team
- Draft guidance, alerts, briefing notes and other documents linked to safety as directed
- Provide training to Regional Risk Managers enabling them to triage and investigate safety concerns or breaches of regulatory compliance providing recommendations and reports
- Assist and coach Risk Managers, Store Manager and colleagues in the production of risk assessments by proactive coaching of Colleagues
- Prepare reports to the H&S Committee, Risk Committee and Brand / Group boards as required
- Provide expert advice in relation to our obligations regarding the maintenance, inspection and management of our safety systems to Colleagues
- Accountable for the annual deployment of our safety risk assessments in our stores, warehouses and head offices
- Develop training for operational risk, business continuity, safety and regulatory compliance and support the review of training course / material
- Undertaking local audits and inspections and inspections related to Health and Safety, Business Continuity / Resilience and Regulatory compliance
- Work collaboratively with all areas of the business to create a safe and secure environment
- Keep abreast of relevant legislative changes or updated guidance and practices issued by the HSE
- Representative of the Group Safety Committee
Key Requirements
- Strong Retail experience
- NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
- Thorough knowledge of safety
- Ability to provide expertise and leadership for Operational Risk and safety matters
- Ability to write clear and concise reports and present to all levels
- Commercial aware with a pragmatic approach to risk
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload to maximise efficiency
- Able to travel and provide out of hours support to the business with overnight stays
- Full UK Driving License
