About The Role
MandM Direct are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to be based at our distribution centre in Moreton-on-Lugg, Hereford. Reporting to our Health & Safety Manager, the main responsibilities for the role will be to support company compliance with prevailing legislation on Health and Safety issues by working as an integral member of the Health & Safety team.
Main Duties:
General:
- Deputising for the Health & Safety Manager in their absence
- Flexibility to be available for the ‘on-call’ schedule for emergencies.
Health and Safety:
- Conducting internal health and safety training (inductions, banksman, fire marshal, warehouse safety etc)
- Championing business objectives and vision/mission statements
- Promoting MandM Directs compliance of prevailing Health & Safety legislation
- Supporting the Health & Safety team’s objectives
- Providing health and safety advice and support to Logistics and Head Office as required
- Assisting in the development of health and safety documentation/record keeping
- Performing/supporting accident investigations
- Reporting Health & Safety concerns/observations
- Conduct health and safety monitoring functions and periodic inspections
- Assisting with the planning and execution of fire evacuation drills
- Chairing scheduled Safety Committee meetings
- Ensuring all compliance testing/inspections are completed within the prescribed intervals
- Arranging external training as required (first aid, FLT etc)
- Monitoring first aid supplies and order as required
- Building good working relationships with stakeholders and contractors
- Conducting COSHH assessments
- Conducting Manual Handling assessments
- Supporting to the Facilities Manager as required
- Monitoring contractor’s work practices when on-site (in collaboration with the Facilities Manager).

Willingness to undertake (if not held)
- NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate
- Manual Handling Instructor/Assessor certificate
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate
- Knowledge of FLT operations
- Manual Handling Instructor/Assessor certificate
- Knowledge of G-Suite.
